THIS IS ROYAL is a documentary series chronicling of the Royal Drift Series

"The five episodes of THIS IS ROYAL reveal different facets of the Royal Drift Series: from Chinese drift legends to ambitious international drivers, from automotive aesthetics to the people who built this championship," states Leonid Shnayder, President of the Royal Drift Series.

Over the past few years, China has emerged as one of the major hubs of the global automotive industry. It is a center for manufacturing electric vehicles, developing new technologies, and establishing racing programs to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Formula 1. Against this backdrop, drifting is also evolving—a discipline that continues to discover new talents and expand on the international stage. The Royal Drift Series is designed to become a new center of attraction for competitors from all over the world, serving as a convergence point for diverse drift schools and cultures.

To tell the story of the inaugural season of the Royal Drift Series, the team at 29 Production & Agency – a studio specializing in premium sports documentary filmmaking – was invited to helm the project. The studio's productions have been frequently nominated for and awarded at prestigious international festivals, including the Paladino d’Oro and The International Motor Film Awards.

"For me, this series is yet another challenge: to tell the story of the birth of something truly significant in simple terms, without excessive dramatization, through the sincere stories of the first season's participants," says series director and producer Aleksandr Kuzmichev. "We secured Unlimited access to the teams during the stages. We are utilizing a modern approach to motorsport cinematography, employing Hollywood-grade automotive audio recording, and scoring an original soundtrack. These are just some of the solutions that help us capture the viewer's attention and guide them through the narrative from the first to the final episode."

The protagonists of THIS IS ROYAL are drivers from various generations and countries, each bringing their own distinct professional experience. The roster includes:
